Novel: The Daughters of Danu
The Beast of Baltinglass

Book One

Anann always felt dangerous. Hidden in the Appalachian mountains with her witch mother Murial, a wise-talking crow named Ciallmhar, and Gerald, the cat, Anann's life was one of isolation. A violent brain disease plagued her with dark, uncontrollable urges, necessitating heavy medication since childhood.

Everything changes after a night spent scaring college students. Murial decides Anann needs to experience life beyond their secluded existence and plans a trip to meet an old friend with Anann in tow. Excited for a taste of freedom, Anann envisions new friends and belonging ahead.

Anann befriends a handsome young man. But her hopes shatter under a full moon; in his company, Anann blacks out only to wake next to his dead body, her hands stained with blood.

Anann returns to Murial, who reveals a shocking truth. Murial is not her birth mother; she had been hiding Anann from a supernatural Celtic race with ancient ties to the mountains that have been hunting Anann since childhood. Even more startling, Anann has a sister, Cyerra, in Ireland, whom she must find before it’s too late.

To protect Anann, Murial sends her to a secret mountain location in a magical car accompanied by Ciallmhar. There, Anann waits for a sign to open a portal to Ireland, beginning her quest to find her sister.

Anann’s journey becomes perilous. The town is shrouded in secrets, with the shadow of the notorious Beast of Baltinglass looming; a strange triangular symbol recurs in her search and pursued by monsters, evading spies from the otherworld, hiding from a relentless supernatural detective named Miles Price and a cult led by enigmatic millionaire Adam Trent.

As Anann uncovers truths about her origins and powers, each step brings her closer to understanding who she is and what she must do to save herself and her sister.
