Mairead Corrigan's Biography

The Writer

Mairead Corrigan from Galway is a writer and mature student on a leave of absence from NUIG studying law, society politics and global media. But first and foremost, she is a mother of two, with one on the way.

She previously owned a freelance business in copyediting and proofreading, and she worked with Tribes Press Publishing during her career change endeavours at university.

From 2018 to 2023, Mairead has written for magazine articles, both online and physical copies, started her first blog and hosted her podcast.

Her preferred genres are a mix of thriller and horror, with sub-genres in dark fantasy/mythology attached. Within the moulds of those genre combinations, she explores the depths of hard-hitting themes such as psychology, societal issues, women’s issues, and addictions.

Mairead's Novel Pitch for 'The Beast of Baltinglass' recently made the Longlist for the International Blue Pencil Agency Pitch Prize Competition 2023, and she is constantly drafting art for further competitions.

Mairead is currently seeking representation, working with mentors and continually carving her craft for the next project.
